Newly-elected Pipili MLA Rudra Pratap Maharathy of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) immediately took oath on the Speaker’s Chamber of the Odisha Legislative Meeting right here. Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro administered him the oath of workplace and secrecy.
Maharathy had gained the by-poll to the Pipili Meeting constituency by a margin of 20,916 votes. He obtained 96,972 votes whereas BJP’s Ashrit Pattanayak secured the second place with 76,056 votes. Congress candidate Bishwokeshan Harichandan Mohapatra obtained 4,261 votes. A complete of 1,80,930 votes together with 893 postal ballots had been counted whereas 136 votes had been rejected because of numerous causes.
