Ruling BJD candidate Rudra Pratap Maharathy on Sunday widened his lead over nearest rival Ashrit Pattanayak of the BJP to 11,196 votes on the finish of the eleventh spherical of counting within the Pipili by-election, the Election Fee stated.
Maharathy secured 42,774 votes, whereas Pattanayak bagged 31,578 votes, and Congress nominee Bishwokeshan Harichandan Mohapatra obtained 2,602 votes.
Of the 78,675 votes counted until the top of the eleventh spherical, 401 individuals selected the NOTA (not one of the above) choice, it stated.
Round 78.24 per cent of over 2.29 lakh voters had exercised their franchise within the by-poll on September 30. A complete of 25 rounds of counting might be held.
Ten candidates are within the fray for the by-poll which was both countermanded or deferred thrice earlier than September 30. The by-election was necessitated by the demise of sitting BJD MLA Pradeep Maharathy in October final yr.
