The Cupboard Committee on Financial Affairs met on November 17, Wednesday to announce a number of selections relating to the telecom sector and highway connectivity to areas that aren’t well-connected. The scheme was launched in 2016 for building or upgradation of 5,412 km highway size and 126 bridges of strategic significance in 44 districts in 9 states. These embody Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh. Of this, 4,490 km highway size and 105 bridges have already been accomplished. The mission has an outlay of Rs 11,725 crore.

The mission could be funded by Common Service Obligation Fund (USOF), the federal government introduced on Wednesday.
