Faceless evaluation: Govt eases guidelines for authentication of e-records submission

NEW DELHI: The finance ministry on Tuesday stated digital data submitted by way of registered account of taxpayers within the revenue tax portal shall be deemed to have been authenticated by the taxpayer by digital verification code (EVC).
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) amended revenue tax guidelines on Monday to ease authentication of data submitted in faceless evaluation continuing.
The ministry stated the amended rule supplies that digital data submitted by way of registered account of the taxpayers within the revenue tax division’s portal shall be deemed to have been authenticated by the taxpayer by digital verification code (EVC).
“Subsequently, the place an individual submits an digital document by logging into his registered account in designated portal of the revenue tax division, it shall be deemed that the digital document has been authenticated by EVC…,” it stated.
The ministry stated this simplified course of would even be accessible to firms, or tax audit circumstances and they’re mandatorily required to authenticate the digital data by digital signature.
“So as to present the good thing about the simplified technique of authentication by EVC to those individuals (resembling firms, tax audit circumstances, and many others) , it has been determined to increase the simplified technique of authentication by EVC to those individuals additionally,” the ministry added.
Therefore, assessees who’re mandatorily required to authenticate digital data by digital signature shall be deemed to have authenticated the digital data once they submit the document by way of their registered account within the Revenue tax division’s portal.
Legislative amendments on this regard could be introduced in the end.
