Hyundai Mobis contract expires Tuesday night, now what about workers?

A major supplier and workers at the Toledo Assembly Complex are going on strike Tuesday night because of a contract expiration.

According to Hyundai Mobis North America officials, the workers’ contract expired on Tuesday night so they were called to go on strike.

A 14-day temporary agreement between the uaw and the Big Three brought Mobis workers back to the assembly line, but now that the contract has expired, Mobis workers will once again be out of a job.

UAW local president Bruce Baumhower said we could not reach an agreement with them. Contract ends tonight. We have applied for strike authorization from the International Union and they have approved the application.

UAW union leaders said there was no work without parts after the parts supplier’s contract expired. The assembly complex has the capacity to make 320 Gladiators a day between two shifts.
