Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump said in court today that she does not remember the details of a real estate deal she worked on at her father’s company. Donald Trump is accused of fraud.
Ivanka’s brothers testified last week. Ivanka Trump has sought to distance herself from questionable property valuation practices that a judge has already ruled fraudulent. Trump admitted in court that some of the valuations of his company’s golf courses, office buildings and other assets were incorrect.
New York Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat, accused Trump and members of his family of manipulating assessed property values to defraud banks and insurance companies and boost their reputation in the business world.Ivanka Trump, unlike her father and brothers, was not charged in the case.
Prosecutors believe Ivanka is involved. Ivanka worked as a high-level executive at Trump’s company from 2011 to 2017, developing the Doral Golf Course in Florida and the Old Post Office Hotel in Washington. However, she said she did not remember the details of the deals. Ivanka said there were too many emails, too many conversations. Donald Trump denied any wrongdoing and accused the judges of being politically biased and meddling in the election.
Last Monday, Trump admitted in court that the valuation of his assets was not always accurate, and that the errors were not relevant to financial institutions. Donald Jr. and Eric Trump testified last week that the financial documents at the center of the case were not their responsibility, although emails and other documents show they may have been more involved than they have admitted.
Ivanka joined her father in the White House from 2017 to 2021, during which time her brothers left the company. Attorney General James believes that Ivanka is involved in manipulating property values, demanding that she be fined $250 million and demands that Trump and his sons be banned from doing business in New York.
